Reason #1692 We Now Know #Imadork

Not that I was actually ever under the delusion that I’m not; but if I were, I’ve now got further proof that I am!  Since it’s funny and ties into my work-life balance theme this week?  I thought I’d share it with you.

In my effort to rule the world, (1) or at least balance what I’ve got going on in it?  I try to keep pretty tight organization on my relationships.  A lot of this I do with spreadsheets and yes, I know that causes a huge uptick in my #imadork status.  I’ve got spreadsheets to keep up with all my friends, FB Friends, Network – simple stuff like:

  • Name, rank, serial #-type information
  • contact info
  • birthday
  • family status
  • their birthdays, if I know them
  • Employer
  • Profession
  • Interests

I use that information to keep up w/my Community.  Whatever – it works… most of the time.   I can tell you who left or was added when my network grows, I don’t miss birthdays w/ those I care about and it allows for one other thing that makes a lot of my “reach” possible… semi-automation.

Some of  you will know exactly what that means without an explanation; others will be wondering when I picked up an interest in weapons. 🙂  When I say I engage in ‘semi-automation;’ what I mean is that I schedule out certain things to happen automatically.  This can include some of my network statuses/updates, the publishing of my blog posts, and birthday wishes with things like birthday cards for friends & loved ones.  I still write the content, make selections, etc – but the delivery is automated so I don’t forget and can still actually juggle all the balls I keep in the air.  Normally, this works fairly well.

However, at 12:08am this morning Hallmark e-cards delivered my #FAIL notification – in the form of a delivery confirmation of a previously scheduled birthday card to my ex-boyfriend (2).  Well, there’s a whoops moment. I didn’t even remember what card I had scheduled to be sent so had to look up the title – it was a “How I Met Your Mother” card.  I still don’t remember what I put in it… since it is my ex; hopefully it didn’t include the “Love, CM” signature I so often tend to use in my romantic relationships! LOL  There doesn’t seem to be a way to look that up; so, I guess I’ll never know!! 🙂

Note to self:  review my ‘semi-automated schedule’ monthly to revise, as necessary.  It’s been added to “The List.” 😉

(1) Just kidding… kinda

(2) We purposefully don’t really interact w/each other- guess you can’t end all of them as friends!  Otherwise, this would likely just be a totally funny moment instead of a funny-awkward moment! LOL  Oh well, I guess I do hope he has a “Happy Birthday;” so it’s not the end of the world… just not a moment I’d likely have still noted via Hallmark.  STILL love the Hallmark Subscription Service, though…if you haven’t checked it out?  You should!

That is such a good idea to automate! I am so terrible with remembering those things sans Facebook! I wish he would have gotten your card, he should be grateful for it..haha! I hope you are doing well!

You know, TweetDeck & Hootsuite are my friends! I love automating out the initial content and scheduling bday/anniversary/holiday cards so that I can focus on the replies throughout the day – that’s really where a lot of the engagement happens, anyway! 🙂

You know, part of me hopes he does, too (assuming it doesn’t say anything overly gooshy, lol!) – it’s his 40th today, he’s a good guy, and I think EVERYONE should have a fab birthday – especially on the milestones! 🙂

Looks like “YOU KNOW” is my phrase of the day, haha! Doing well, Belinda – and hope the same for you – the #TR30Days Tribers need to catch up soon!! 😉
